One the biggest draws for vacationers and homeowners in the area is the many great ski resorts in the Sierra Nevadas. With over 10 major downhill ski resorts and 4 cross country ski resorts, skiers and snowboarders have endless possibilities. Tahoe and Truckee get an average of nearly 200 inches of snow each year. The ski season typically lasts from December to the end of April or early May, but some years it starts much earlier and can go even later than that.
